At a press conference at Gwangju City Hall Briefing Room on 29 December 2019, Mayor Lee Yong-sup announced 20 key initiatives to direct the city government in 2020. Mayor Lee stated: “We will strive to foster local AI industries and create jobs based on the successes of the past year and a half.”
Mayor Lee unveiled 20 key initiatives, including: full-fledged operation of the AI Hub City project, expedited establishment of the Gwangju Global Motors automobile factory and recruitment of local talent, construction of subway line 2, creation of high-quality jobs based on free economic zones and 11 representative local industries, smooth implementation of special projects for private parks development, stable water supply, and precautionary measures against fire and urban disaster.
